Except it hasn’t been a year has it? Due to the strange events of recent years, our most recent AGM was held in January of this year at the Firs Club in Codsall. We’re back on track this year though and have brought the AGM back to November, the familiar fixture we’re all used to.
Before our AGM arrives, we look to the West Midlands CAMRA Regional meeting that comes to the Crown Joules pub on Wood Road, Codsall, WV8 1DB this Saturday 29th October. The meeting begins at noon and will be followed by a tour of local pubs – what better chance for local members to meet some of their CAMRA colleagues from neighbouring areas? Of course, there are several establishments offering good ale in walking distance of the meeting and also, there is Codsall’s railway station (itself home to Holden’s Station pub) allowing easy access to and from the area.
If you’re not from the area but you’re planning on coming to the meeting, make use of WhatPub through either the app or the website and click the ‘Nearby Pubs’ link to take a look at what’s in range – including our South Staffordshire Pub of the Year, Love & Liquor and our Club of the Year, The Firs. If you’re not taking the train, the number 5 bus (National Express West Midlands) runs between Wolverhampton City Centre and Codsall – ideal for stop offs on the way home, the bus stops outside our current City Pub of the Year, the Hail to the Ale. There’s also the chance to call in at some of our city centre pubs and bars while you’re here. If you’re attending, have a great day out.

Wolverhampton CAMRA’s Annual General Meeting takes place at the Penn Bowling and Social Club, 10 Manor Road, Penn, WV4 5PY on the evening of 3rd November, at 8pm. You can expect our branch committee to be voted in, our accounts are scrutinised and the year is reviewed. The AGM is open to all CAMRA members, so please come along and say ‘hello!’.
