AGM sees new faces in important committee roles

On 20 January, Wolverhampton CAMRA held their Annual General Meeting at The Firs Club in Codsall. As is customary at an AGM, the Wolverhampton CAMRA branch committee was voted in. Over two years had passed since the last AGM and a lot happened in the intervening time. Outgoing roles include Chairman Andy Parton who is stepping down after 5 years as Chairman due to moving out of area. Andy was also on the committee for twenty five years and will be missed.

After a huge forty five years in the role of branch Treasurer, in fact, she was a founding member of the Wolverhampton branch back in November 1976, Susan Rostance has stepped down. Her vast knowledge and presence in the role will be missed, but she tells us she will be on hand should her successor need any advice.

Finally, with the sad passing of branch Secretary John Nightingale in February 2020, Wolverhampton CAMRA has had temporary cover in this role through the stop start of the pandemic. John leaves a huge gap which up until the AGM has been filled by Amanda Hignett and Jeff Clifford.

Mark Hewitt and Andy Parton

Replacing their CAMRA colleagues in the aforementioned roles and voted in at the AGM are Mark Hewitt who takes over as Chairman, he also retains his Pub Preservation Officer role. Treasurer is to be picked up by a familiar face bringing a wealth of experience, Shelly Bentley. Branch Secretary is another CAMRA stalwart in Aiden Hale. A warm welcome comes to Robin Hewitt, new to the committee, who takes on the role of Pubs Data Coordinator. The full list of current committee members can be seen below.
