Is Your Pub Good Enough for the GBG? Then Vote!

If you’re like many of us in Wolverhampton CAMRA, you’ll be an owner of the Good Beer Guide 2025. And if you’re not an owner, you’ll be a drinker, proud that your local keeps excellent beer and appears in the Guide. Maybe they’re a recurring pub or club in CAMRA’s flagship Guide – several are. Voting is currently open for the Good Beer Guide 2026, which will be released later this year. We sent the forms out in November and again recently, by email. You’re running out of time, so vote and submit now!

In Wolverhampton (and it differs depending on the branch – so please check with your branch committee if you’re a member of a different branch) we ask you, our members, to vote for your chosen pubs or clubs from our eligible list.

How do you know whether your pub is good enough for the guide? We have some criteria for that, but for the voting process, simply choose from the eligible list based on your experience at the pub. Is the cask ale in good condition? Do you enjoy using this pub – would you be proud to take friends and family there? If so, vote for it.

If we have pubs tied for the twelfth spot for our Wolverhampton allocation or fourth spot for our South Staffordshire selection, we will usually use beer scores as submitted through the WhatPub.com website or the Good Beer Guide app to choose which should make the guide.

Completed forms or a simple list of your selections must be received no later than Mon 3 February.

Forms can be sent via email to:

CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2025

TLDR: Download the Eligible Pubs/Clubs List and the Voting Form, complete and return to gbgvotes@wolverhampton.camra.org.uk by Mon 3 February.

We’re all too aware that we have many very good pubs and not all of them will make the guide. On the opposite end of the scale, you may be a CAMRA member who isn’t able or doesn’t want to visit many pubs. If this is the case, you don’t have to fill up the whole allocation of votes in order to participate, but we do ask you consider voting for at least two venues.

The voting form also includes boxes to nominate the City pub, South Staffs pub, Cider pub and Club you think are the best – these count towards our Pubs & Club of the Year awards so please don’t forget to make these selections.

NOTE: As with the GBG votes, you do not have to nominate one for every award category. So if you’re not a cider drinker, for example, you can leave that category blank.

If there are others which you know of that are missing from the list, please let the branch know so that WhatPub can be updated, by emailing whatpub@wolverhampton.camra.org.uk.

Remember, every branch member is entitled to vote, including both joint members. Some years, a few members felt that they were not qualified to return the form as they did not visit a large representation of the branch pubs, but if you only visit a few and they serve good beer, then please still vote!
