West Midlands CAMRA Regional Mild Trail, 13th May 2023
The Wolverhampton branch of CAMRA is pleased to be hosting the West Midlands Regional Mild Trail for 2023. Several of our branch pubs, clubs and bars serve mild either permanently or on a semi-regular basis and, for the event, some have agreed to put cask mild on for visitors to enjoy.
Note – if your local venue is willing to put a mild on for 13th May, let us know (up until 12th May) and we’ll make sure you’re added to the map. (contact@wolverhampton.camra.org.uk)
See the below map for all venues with mild ale available – red icons are permanent mild, dark red represent occasional / on as a special for the trail. Blue pins are other pubs serving cask ale – though not mild. Grey pins are new or refurbished pubs soon to be open.
The map includes suggested transport routes, please note that some venues may be the only location in their area serving mild, we’ll leave it up to you as to whether you want to make the journey – our map only lists suggestions. Our main trail route for the day runs between Codsall and Wolverhampton city centre. We suggest those embarking on the trail start at one side or the other, but ultimately the route is up to you!
The trail begins on 13th May at midday. Suggested starting points are Codsall Station (Holden’s pub) where many of Wolverhampton branch will start, or Wolverhampton City Centre. Look out for Wolverhampton CAMRA branch members to get hold of a physical map. The #5 bus route runs between Wolverhampton and Codsall.
Please vote for the venue that you think kept the best quality mild and also which particular mild was your favourite by emailing contact@wolverhampton.camra.org.uk

Transport
We’ve included some of the popular bus routes that link various locations together. For the Codsall – Wolverhampton route, the National Express West Midlands #5 bus route is ideal.
Note – there is a rail strike on the day of the trail. Transport for Wales trains are still running, though it is unlikely there will be any trains stopping at Codsall Station – keep an eye on this page for updates. For members travelling from Shrewsbury and Telford, it may be possible to board a Transport for Wales train to Wolverhampton Railway Station.
For members travelling from Birmingham and the Black Country, the Midland Metro is running as are buses.
