As we reach December, you may be feeling a little like me. Wondering what happened to another year.. unfortunately we can’t slow time down but we can make the most of it. For the majority of CAMRA members, this means visiting and enjoying the best our pubs, bars and clubs have to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ve certainly made the most of the last couple of months in particular, our joint visit alongside Dudley CAMRA to the Black Country Museum to visit the newly built Elephant & Castle pub<\/a>, modelled as closely as possible on Wolverhampton’s old Elephant & Castle pub at the junction of Cannock Road and Stafford Road that was so cruelly (and with no respect for the heritage of the building) torn down one evening in March 2001 by Peel Holdings, before it could be considered for listing. Did you ever drink at the original Elephant & Castle? How do you feel the new one compares?<\/p>\n\n\n

The West Midlands CAMRA Regional AGM was held at The Crown Joules, Codsall, in late October. Here, Shelly Bentley was voted in as the West Midlands CAMRA Regional Director, before attendees made the most of Codsall’s pubs and club. In early November, the Wolverhampton CAMRA AGM was held at Penn Bowling Club, where committee members were voted in, accounts scrutinised and the year was reviewed.<\/p>\n\n\n

On Thursday 17 November, the Firs Club in Codsall were presented with the West Midlands Regional Club of the Year 2022 – a large contingent of CAMRA members were in attendance to see Regional Director Shelly Bentley present Anna Reynolds with the award. This date coincided with the Firs Club’s annual beer festival – a good evening was had by all as the extensive selection of beers available was sampled.<\/p>\n\n\n

Recently, many members visited the Posada on Lichfield Street where our Wolverhampton Summer Festival of Beer & Cider tombola charity cheque was presented to Chris Brown of the Newhampton Arts Centre.
