Cask is back&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As many of our pubs prepare to reopen on Monday 12 April, CAMRA is calling on beer drinkers to back British brewing and pubs and opt for a pint of fresh cask beer from a local independent brewery when they return to pubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sales of hand-pulled cask beer, which can only be sold in pubs, have been hit hard by Coronavirus restrictions \u2013 with sales of this fresh British beer down 70 per cent over the last twelve months \u2013 but a new campaign is seeking to reverse those fortunes and has the backing of brewers, beer drinkers and publicans alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/wolverhampton.camra.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cask-is-back-logo-1280x640-1-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wolverhampton.camra.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cask-is-back-logo-1280x640-1-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wolverhampton.camra.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cask-is-back-logo-1280x640-1-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wolverhampton.camra.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cask-is-back-logo-1280x640-1-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wolverhampton.camra.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Cask-is-back-logo-1280x640-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u2018Cask is BACK, so back CASK\u2019 campaign has been launched by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA), CAMRA, &nbsp;the British Institute of Innkeeping, and Cask Marque \u2013 who are championing Britain\u2019s National drink, which can only be enjoyed down the pub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CAMRA chief executive Tom Stainer said: \u201cWhat makes the Great British pub so unique is delicious, fresh cask beer. It\u2019s a drink you can only enjoy in the pub and which millions of people across the UK have not been able to enjoy for much of the last twelve months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom urged people to get back to their local pubs and back local breweries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll not only get a great tasting beer but you\u2019ll be supporting local independent breweries and our struggling pub-industry,\u201d Said Tom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SIBA chief executive James Calder said Cask ale and pubs are part of our national identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>James said: \u201cCask beer can only be enjoyed in the pub it\u2019s the drink millions of beer lovers across the UK have missed most during lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhether you\u2019re a real ale enthusiast or sometimes beer drinker, we\u2019re asking everyone to support their local independent breweries and opt for their first pint back in the pub to be some delicious local cask beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor publicans, those pubs that do cask and do it well will reap the rewards so we\u2019re encouraging all in the pub trade to prioritise cask and ensure that first pint back is in tip-top condition. The message is simple \u2013 cask is back, so back cask!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve put together a list of Wolverhampton branch area pubs that are opening on the 12th April.
